Did you know? The entire Singapore National Anthem is printed in micro-text on the back of a $1000 bill of the Portrait Series[1]. This Portrait Series of currency notes is Singapore's fourth and the current set of notes to be issued for circulation. The Board of Commissioners of Currency Singapore (BCCS)[2] first introduced it on September 9, 1999. This series includes a portrait of Singapore's first president, Yusof bin Ishak. MAS (Monetary Authority of Singapore)[3] also released the polymer versions of this series for general distribution on May 4, 2004.
Lyrics of Singapore National Anthem:
The National Anthem was written in Malay at first. The lyrics are available below[4]. Its musical score and lyric translations in Singapore's three other official languages (English, Chinese, and Tamil) are also available below.
Majulah Singapura
Mari kita rakyat Singapura
Sama-sama menuju bahagia
Cita-cita kita yang mulia
Berjaya Singapura
Marilah kita bersatu
Dengan semangat yang baru
Semua kita berseru
Majulah Singapura
Majulah Singapura
前进吧,新加坡!
来吧,新加坡人民,
让我们共同向幸福迈进;
我们崇高的理想,
要使新加坡成功。
来吧,让我们以新的精神,
团结在一起;
我们齐声欢呼:
前进吧,新加坡!
前进吧,新加坡!
Onward Singapore
Come, fellow Singaporeans
Let us progress towards happiness together
May our noble aspiration bring
Singapore success
Come, let us unite
In a new spirit
Let our voices soar as one
Onward Singapore
Onward Singapore
